UEFI PXE Boot

Post by commguy » 01 Oct 2013, 23:33

Many of the systems I've been troubleshooting lately are UEFI. I've been toying with the idea of modifying my PXE server to boot UEFI as well as legacy but I haven't found a way to do it yet. I did recently run across a page on red hat that shows a set up for efi over pxe. Looks like it is fairly straight forward if you are setting up a stand alone boot server for a single OS installation.

Could this be adapted for ERPXE?

I googled and run across the same page (https://access.redhat.com/site/document ... g-efi.html) from red hat.
other from ubuntu (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UEFI/PXE-netboot-install)
and another How to netboot using ELILO (http://askubuntu.com/questions/313058/h ... nfs-rootfs).

I've tried to PXE using VirtualBox EFI, but failed. I'll go more into the subject...

You know, I've had mixed results with virtualbox in general. Some times it works and some times it doesn't and the bugs seem to be random between versions as well. Once I find a way I can understand I can get my hands on a uefi laptop for a couple of days for testing but syslinux either isn't offering much info on the subject or hasn't really gotten into it.

I saw the elilo article too and didn't really understand how I could apply it to this system. But then I'm not exactly a subject matter expert here either.

Be happy to hear if you come up with anything.
